Make the most of your present to get the best of your future
Admissions officers often know within just a few minutes of reviewing an application whether or not that applicant has a chance of gaining admission. At Rivertowns College Counseling, our goal is to make those few minutes count. We help you and your child simplify the college preparation process, decide his or her ideal path, and, ultimately, stand out from the rest of the pack . And we do so in the most enjoyable, realistic, and efficient way possible.
Allyson strives to make the college planning and application process both easy and manageable. By creating individualized strategies for each student and providing consistent, focused, and thoughtful guidance from the first conversation to the final decision making process, Allyson tailors her approach to each student’s unique strengths and needs. She provides the structure and support needed for success, first by setting realistic goals based on each student’s personal and academic history, then by creating a simple, corresponding month-by-month timeline. She will walk each student through a standardized testing plan, identify and explore the best academic and extracurricular opportunities and possibilities, research and refine the best-fit college choice list – whether it be for fall, spring, regular, early, or transfer admission – and help each student craft memorable essays and applications. Her counseling includes considerations about what to study/college majors, location, travel, culture, and size, as well as post-collegiate career goals. Allyson will also help you understand college-related financial considerations. Her goal is to see each student succeed, and begin the next chapter of their lives as confidently, and prepared as possible.
A supportive and empathetic mentor, Allyson treats all applicants with an equal amount of respect and care, and also derives great joy from working with students who may have physical, learning or emotional differences. A champion of individuality and originality, she also counsels LGBTQ students to ensure that their college search results in admission into best-fit colleges with the most ideal support systems.
